The sunset bathes the entrance of the old car garage, just above the Red Mill, in orange. The triangular awning is reminiscent of a sailboat swaying in the light breeze. To be honest, the place in no way betrays its previous status.
Only a few obvious details like the bare concrete and the lovely old-fashioned mosaic on the floor offer a hint –chosen by architect and half creative member of this new space Nicholas Frantzeskos. Visual artist Vassilis Kavouridis is the other creative half. The two of them together came up with the idea of a creative-architectural office that would also function as an exhibition space, open to innovative artistic proposals and the Arts in general.
The spacious hall is shaded in grey and off-white. Its straight lines, open space and glass surfaces give it an austere yet inviting and playful atmosphere characterised by the roguish play of shadow, light and reflection. Moreover, the space is full of surprises. Each time it hosts something new, the space transforms, inviting all those interested in contemporary art and architecture to join the interesting discussions that arise on various occasions and draw upon the exhibitions hosted.
Stark modern offices, made with excellent materials, cut off from the rest of the space, decorated with colourful flowers and beautiful artworks by Vassilis Kavouridis; offices that, with the opening of a glass door, fully connect all four corners of the space.
A contemporary hub dedicated to creative ideas and projects, art and design, with screens displaying Nicola Francesco’s perfectly photographed architectural achievements and a huge wall just to the left of the entrance, ready to host all kinds of artworks and installations, light and shadows.
“Architecture, painting and sculpture combine to create an ideal space that offers a complete experience. Our goal is to create a space where art is the primary motive, not the result,” the official press release states.
