By air:
Samos International Airport “Aristarchos” (SMI) serves the island, with flights from Athens, Thessaloniki, and other Greek cities all year round. The flight time from Athens to Samos is approximately 1 hour. During the summer months, the airport also receives charter flights from various European countries. Upon arrival, you can use public transportation or a taxi for a convenient transfer to your destination.
By ferry:
Ferries to Samos depart from Piraeus port in Athens, taking around 7 to 9 hours to reach the island. Samos is also connected to other Greek islands, such as Syros, Mykonos, Ikaria, Fourni, and Chios. From Vathi port in Samos, daily ferries operate to Kusadasi, a beautiful region in Turkey. Two main companies, Blue Star Ferries and Hellenic Seaways, serve the island, with routes to both Vathi (Samos Town) and Karlovassi. Booking tickets in advance is recommended, especially during peak season.
Combination of air and sea:
For a more adventurous journey, you can combine both air and sea travel. Fly into Athens International Airport and take a connecting flight to Samos, or take a ferry from Piraeus to the island of Ikaria, then connect to Samos by ferry.
