Getting There
Begin your journey to Meteora by flying to either Athens International Airport (ATH) or Thessaloniki International Airport (SKG) in Greece. Then, choose your preferred transportation mode:
Car rental:
Renting a car offers flexibility and the chance to explore the region at your leisure. The drive from Athens to Meteora takes approximately 4 hours, while from Thessaloniki, it takes about 2.5 hours. Be sure to have a valid driver’s license and acquaint yourself with local driving regulations.
Train:

From Thessaloniki: The train ride from Thessaloniki to Kalambaka takes approximately 3-4 hours. Secure tickets through TrainOSE’s website: www.trainose.gr
Bus:
From Athens: Take a bus at Liosion Bus Station to Trikala, then transfer to a Kalambaka-bound bus. The journey takes roughly 5-6 hours in total.
From Thessaloniki: Ride a bus from Thessaloniki to Trikala, which takes about 3 hours. Then, transfer to a bus to Kalambaka for an additional hour of travel. website: www.ktel-trikala.gr
Car hire
In order to reach Meteora from Athens by car, you need to drive through the National Greek Road Athina – Livadia – Lamia and follow the route to Kalambaka. In case you don’t have your own vehicle, it is an excellent idea to rent one for your sightseeing trips!
