Mount Parnassos, one of Greece’s most popular winter destinations (and for good reason), is loved for its generous natural beauty, excellent facilities, and top quality dining choices. Above all, it is a mountain ideal for year-round activities, but especially during the coldest winter months when the islands are not as alluring.

Whether you prefer a relaxed pace or more pulse-raising adventures, alone or with friends, Parnassos offers you plenty of great options for a fun day or two. Here, we suggest four fabulous ways to make the most of your trip there,

01

Slalom – or Pose – at the Ski Center

The largest and most famous ski resort in Greece lies at an altitude of 1,600–2,250 meters, in the areas of Kellaria and Fterolakka. Featuring state-of-the-art detachable lifts, it ranks among the top ski centers in the Balkans. From several vantage points, you can enjoy views of the Evian and Corinthian Gulfs.

Parnassos Ski Center has 23 slopes, four beginner pistes, 17 lifts, seven routes, and seven connecting paths, covering a total of 34 kilometers. Four slopes are certified for international competitions. For advanced skiers, 12 off-piste “black” trails are available. The snow park, ski and snowboard schools, equipment rentals, and a playground add to its appeal, alongside two chalet cafes and a restaurant.

* Winter Driving Advice

Check Conditions: Snow and ice are common at this time of year, so review weather forecasts and road updates before you depart.

Equip Your Car: Snow chains are required for mountain travel in winter – make sure you have them and know how to use them.

Consider Alternatives: If you’re not experienced with winter driving or prefer a simpler option, take a bus from Athens to Delphi and use local transport for the final stretch to the mountain.
