Comprising an international team of designers, engineers and graphic artists based in Paris, San Francisco, Shanghai and San Paolo, Peugeot Design Lab has relied on Peugeot’s expertise in matters concerning technology, specialisation and design to establish itself in a range of fields, including catering, furniture design and aerospace.

The achievements of Peugeot Design Lab have further enhanced the Peugeot brand, pushing the company’s wider experience forward. Amongst its many achievements, the design studio has gained distinction in the manufacturing of helicopters, electric scooters, watches, surfboards, trams and aircraft seats.

Its latest dynamic proposal, an ultramodern food truck, was co-developed with Whirlpool, renowned for its production of professional appliances, as part of their collaboration for the Whirlpool Experience Tour, a unique communication tool intended for B2B use.

It is targeted at salespersons covering Whirlpool’s retail network, gastronomy domain experts, as well as merchants throughout France. In 2021, the Whirlpool Experience Tour completed a first successful season that involved numerous presentations and visits to 20 cities, while, in 2022, the tour is also expected to be taken to many international trade shows.

Whirlpool’s decision to look the way of Peugeot for the co-development of this ultramodern food truck comes as no surprise. Peugeot Design Lab had previously launched its successful Gillardeau food truck, in 2017, proving its level of expertise, as well as the ability of the team’s designers to think innovatively and offer services to customers not active in the automotive industry.

Peugeot’s Expert model was a key element in the design of the new food truck. It was appropriately transformed by the BCC company. The Peugeot Design Lab’s team paid particular attention so that chef and customers are at the same height during presentations, as such an approach was deemed to be friendlier. In addition, an advanced audiovisual multimedia system was installed at the back of the food truck to offer online seminars and details on food truck oven features. The multimedia system’s screen was inspired by the much-discussed Le Bistrot du Lion, first presented in 2015 by the Peugeot Design Lab as a proposal for an original, mobile restaurant capable of quickly serving high-quality meals.

The objective of the collaboration between Peugeot and Whirlpool was to create a unique and exceptional experience, inspired by the world of gastronomy and French bistros. The Peugeot Design Lab designers then took on the task of developing this concept, aligning it with modern needs as well as the determination of Peugeot and Whirlpool for technological effectiveness combined with environmental and social responsibility.

As a result, the new food truck by Peugeot Design Lab and Whirlpool reflects food culture’s most modern version, the emotional factor behind a meal that unites people, combined with latest information on the value of ingredients as well as the need of humanity to prosper while respecting surrounding nature, the source of food.
