From Monday 7 February, those with an active European vaccination certificate will be able to enter the country without a negative diagnostic test, Health Minister Thanos Plevris told ERT.
Earlier, the Health Minister spoke on ANT1 (Greek TV channel) about the contracted auxiliary health workers who have joined the National Health System and said that “for the 12,000 auxiliaries, whose contracts expire on March 31, we will make arrangements to extend their contracts until the end of the year, while there will be a bonus, due to the experience they have gained, and at the same time 4,000 jobs will be created in the NHS”. Regarding the suspension of the contract in force for unvaccinated health workers, the Health Minister initially stated that “extending the suspension to those who have not gotten the booster dose is not in our plans”.
He added that “for those health workers who have not been vaccinated, the contract suspension ends on 31 March. On the same day, the government will either extend this deadline or announce that vaccination is a prerequisite for offering services in the NHS. No decision has been made yet, however my recommendation is that anyone who has not been vaccinated cannot work in the NHS».
