Leading global hospitality company Hilton and international property investment group SCD LTD have confirmed plans to launch two hotels in Athens, through an agreement involving SCG group LTD subsidiaries.
The historic Pentelikon, a 117-room hotel in the luxurious northern suburb of Kifissia, will house Hilton’s first “Curio Collection by Hilton” hotel in Athens when it opens in 2024.
Also, the Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano, an 83-room hotel opening in the popular port area of Piraeus, will become the first Greek property for Hampton by Hilton.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton’s Senior Vice President of Development, Europe, Middle East and Africa, noted: “Over the past 12 months, we have expanded our portfolio at key luxury destinations in Greece with four new hotels. This latest agreement will allow us to capitalise on our extensive background in Athens and introduce two exciting hotel brands to the market. The Curio Collection by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton are two of our fastest growing brands in Europe and represent almost half of our total number of hotels. The prosperous port of Piraeus and lively Kifissia district, filled with stores representing well-known designers, gourmet restaurants and multinational headquarter offices, are ideal locations for introducing these brands to the Athens market.”
Theodoros Douzoglou, director and shareholder of SCD Group LTD, noted: “We are very excited to be expanding our presence in Greece in collaboration with a leading international company such as Hilton. The recovery of tourism in Greece is very promising and, with such a great and unfulfilled desire for travel, now is the right time to develop high quality hotels in Athens. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the ‘Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano’ and the ‘Pentelikon Athens, Curio Collection by Hilton”.
Pentelikon Athens, Curio Collection by Hilton
The SCD group will make an 18 million-euro investment to revamp the facilities at the renowned Pentelikon ahead of the hotel’s rebranding as part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. Hotel services will be upgraded and the facility’s brightness restored. The Pentelikon, whose 117 rooms will include 13 stylish suites, will be added to an international portfolio of more than 100 hotels and resorts under the Curio brand. Guests will be able to enjoy the hotel’s luxury facilities and services, including a fully equipped gym, four spa rooms, as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, throughout the year.
Located a short distance from the centre of Athens, as well as important sights such as the Goulandris Natural History Museum and the Syggrou Forest, Pentelikon is expected to serve as an attraction for both international and domestic visitors. One of the advantages of the Kifissia region is its many international headquarter offices, making the area a business travel hotspot. Pentelikon, to offer three conference and event facilities totaling 1,300 square metres, will be fully equipped to host anything from small meetings to large conferences for business travellers from abroad as well as locally based professionals.
Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano
Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano will be located in Kastela, the most picturesque district in Piraeus, renowned for its neoclassical architecture and close to the Mikrolimano marina. The hotel will offer stunning views of the port.
Following a 5.5 million-euro renovation by the SCD Group, Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano will provide the internationally renowned, high-quality hospitality offered by Hampton by Hilton hotels. Travellers will be able to enjoy their stay at a facility offering four meeting rooms covering a total area of 120 square meters, as well as an impressive outdoor pool with stunning views of Piraeus and the Athenian Riviera. The modern, fresh-minded interior renovations at the hotel will inject life into a round-the-clock business centre equipped with a gym and comfortable rooms, while guests will also benefit from the award-winning service offered by Hampton by Hilton, including free breakfast meals and Wi-Fi.
Pentelikon Athens, Curio Collection by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano will participate in the renowned hotel rewards programme Hilton Honors, enabling its nearly 123 million members making direct Hilton reservations to earn points for free stays and other benefits at hotels, such as contactless check-ins.
Pentelikon Athens, Curio Collection by Hilton will be located at 66 Diligianni, Kifissia, 145 62, while the Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano address will be 105 Papanastasiou Ave, Piraeus, 185 33.
