According to a decision of the Minister of Development and Investments, Mr. Adonis Georgiades, the new price for a PCR test in Greece is set at €47. The new price will apply from Thursday 6 January.
According to the General Secretariat for Trade and Consumer Protection of the Ministry of Development, EUR 35 is the price ceiling for the provision of services (sample analysis, etc.), including the required reagents and consumables, and EUR 12 is the price ceiling for sampling in private diagnostic laboratories and private clinics. It should be noted that the above mentioned price ceilings do not apply if the sampling is carried out outside private diagnostic laboratories and private clinics, in which case the price is freely determined.
The full decision on the “modification of the maximum price limits for PCR diagnostic tests” reads:
“The General Secretariat of Commerce and Consumer Protection of the Ministry of Development and Investments informs the consumer public, diagnostic laboratories and private clinics that as of Thursday 06/01/2022 the maximum price limits for PCR diagnostic tests are amended as follows:

– Maximum charge for sampling in private diagnostic laboratories and private clinics: EUR 12 (twelve).
The above fee ceilings do not apply when the sampling is carried out outside private diagnostic laboratories and private clinics, in which case the price is freely determined.
The above will be provided for by a decision of the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiades, which is in the process of being issued.”
